Heat treatment of NM450 wear-resistant steel plate:
This steel grade acquires its hardness by accelerated cooling from the austenitizing temperature. After thermoforming, recovery of hardness is only possible by re-quenching. The hardness obtained by re-quenching will be different from the hardness measured at the factory because of the difference in capabilities between the quenching equipment used to produce the steel plate and the quenching equipment owned by the processing plant. The hardness of the steel plate will not decrease significantly when heated to about 200°C.
NM450 machining:
High-speed steel drill bits can be used for NM450 processing, especially cobalt alloy high-speed steel drill bits. If appropriate drilling speed and cutting speed are used, the drill bit can obtain a satisfactory service life.
