What is Mn13 high manganese steel plate?
Mn13 High Manganese Steel Plate is a work-hardening wear-resistant steel specifically designed for severe impact, high compressive stress, and abrasive wear applications.
Unlike conventional wear-resistant steels that achieve hardness through quenching and tempering, Mn13 features a unique work-hardening capability. Under repeated heavy impact or compressive loads, its surface hardness can rapidly increase from approximately HB 200–250 to HB 500–600 or even higher, while the core retains excellent toughness and ductility.
This unique combination of a hard wear-resistant surface and a tough interior enables Mn13 to provide 4–8 times the wear resistance of ordinary carbon steel in high-impact service conditions. It is widely used for crusher liners, hopper liners, chute liners, railway crossings, and mining equipment components, where exceptional impact resistance and long service life are essential.
Our Mn13 high manganese wear-resistant steel plates eliminate the brittleness commonly associated with conventional hardened wear steels under severe impact loading. Instead of cracking under high contact pressure, Mn13 continuously work-hardens during service, making it exceptionally suitable for applications involving repeated heavy impact and abrasive wear. With a minimum tensile strength of 800 MPa, an initial hardness of 170–230 HBW, and an elongation of over 35%, these plates combine outstanding toughness with excellent wear resistance.
Engineered for the most demanding operating environments, Mn13 steel plates are capable of continuous service under high-pressure and high-impact conditions. During operation, the surface hardness can rapidly increase to 500–600 HBW or even higher through work hardening, while the core remains tough and crack-resistant. Compared with conventional wear-resistant steel plates, service life can be extended by up to 40% in severe impact and abrasive applications, helping reduce equipment wear, maintenance frequency, and costly downtime.

Before shipment, every Mn13 high manganese steel plate undergoes rigorous quality control and comprehensive inspection throughout the manufacturing process.
This includes 100% solution heat treatment followed by water quenching, ultrasonic testing (UT), hardness and work-hardening capability testing, and Positive Material Identification (PMI) verification to ensure consistent material performance and composition.
All plates are supplied with an EN 10204 3.2 Material Test Certificate (MTC) and can be inspected by internationally recognized third-party organizations such as SGS and Bureau Veritas (BV). Our manufacturing facilities also operate under a certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ensuring full traceability and consistent product quality.

We also offer one-stop processing services, including custom cutting, CNC drilling, beveling, and bending. Our standard delivery time is 15 working days. With a flexible MOQ starting from 1 piece, we can support both trial orders and large-scale projects.

What is difference Between the Mn13 and NM400?
Mn13 is a high-impact work-hardening steel that becomes harder under severe impact, while NM400 is a quenched and tempered high-hardness wear-resistant steel with stable hardness.
Mn13 performs better in extreme shock loading conditions, whereas NM400 is more suitable for stable abrasive wear environments.
Application Of Mn13 high-impact work-hardening steel
Our Mn13 plates are widely used for heavy-duty crusher wear parts:
Jaw crusher liners
Cone Crusher Liners
Hammer Crusher Liners
Chute Liners
Hopper liners

Mn13 steel plates must undergo 100% Positive Material Identification (PMI) through spectroscopic analysis to ensure correct chemical composition. Each plate is also subjected to ultrasonic non-destructive testing (UT) in accordance with ASTM A435/A578 standards to guarantee internal soundness and the absence of defects.
In addition, to verify its key wear resistance and safety performance, the material must pass hardness testing as well as simulated service condition work-hardening capability testing.

All Mn13 high manganese steel plates are packed with anti-rust oil and heavy-duty waterproof wrapping to protect against sea moisture and corrosion.
They are securely strapped with steel bands and placed on IPPC-compliant wooden or steel pallets for safe transport. Each package is clearly labeled with a waterproof metal tag showing material, heat number, and specifications for full traceability.
