Due to the enrichment of trace elements such as Cu and P on the steel surface, a dense and highly adhesive protective film is formed to prevent further corrosion of the base metal.
Compared with ordinary carbon steel, A588GrB series weathering steel has better corrosion resistance in the atmosphere. Compared with stainless steel, weathering steel has only trace alloying elements, such as P, Cu, Cr, Mo, Nb, V, T, etc. The total amount of alloying elements accounts for only a few percent, unlike stainless steel, which reaches more than ten percent, so the price is relatively low.
